How We Build a Transformer
Six stages from steel to test report. Each one happens in our own workshop, and each one has an inspection point before the unit moves on.
The build sequence
- Core. Grain-oriented silicon steel, cut and stacked in mitred step-lap.
- Winding. Copper or aluminium conductor, wound in-house and checked for turns.
- Assembly. Core and coil assembled, leads routed and brazed.
- Drying. Vacuum drying in our own plant, then vacuum oil filling.
- Tank. Corrugated wall or radiator, pressure tested before filling.
- Testing. Routine tests to IEC 60076, then the test report.
Where we differ
- We do not buy semi-finished units and rebrand them.
- Loss and impedance are measured on the unit that ships, not on a sample.
- Drying and filling happen on site, so the moisture content is ours to control.
- The engineer who built the unit is reachable after it ships.
Quality Control
Inspection points through the build.
Testing
Routine and type tests.
