Distribution Transformers
Step-down units that take distribution voltage to the voltage your equipment actually uses. We build oil-immersed and cast resin distribution transformers from 50 kVA to 3150 kVA, with 11 kV, 22 kV and 33 kV primaries, in 50 Hz and 60 Hz.

How it is built
- Core: cold-rolled grain-oriented silicon steel, mitred step-lap, clamped to hold noise down.
- Winding: copper or aluminium, wound in-house.
- Tank: corrugated wall or radiator, pressure tested before filling.
- Drying: vacuum drying in our own plant, then vacuum oil filling.
- Sealing: hermetically sealed, or conservator with a silica-gel breather.
Options and accessories
Tap changer
Off-circuit ±2 × 2.5%, or an on-load tap changer.
Winding material
Copper or aluminium, to the loss figures you need to meet.
Protection
Pressure relief device, gas relay, oil level and temperature indicators.
Terminations
HV cable box or bushings, LV busbar or cable box.
Monitoring
Winding temperature indicator with alarm and trip contacts.
Finish
Standard industrial paint, or the colour your utility specifies.
Standards and testing
- Routine tests on every unit: winding resistance, ratio and vector group, insulation resistance, impedance voltage, separate-source and induced voltage withstand.
- Type tests on request: temperature rise, lightning impulse, short-circuit withstand.
- Designed and tested to IEC 60076. IEEE and ANSI practice applied for 60 Hz designs.
- A test report in English goes out with every transformer.
