Agree the programme in advance
The FAT scope should be agreed when the order is placed: which routine tests, whether type test reports will be provided, who attends, and what documentation will be issued.
Typical FAT programme
Visual and dimensional check. Against the approved GA drawing
Winding resistance. All taps, all phases
Voltage ratio and vector group. On every tap position
Impedance voltage and load loss. At rated current, corrected to reference temperature
No-load loss and no-load current. At rated voltage and frequency
Dielectric tests. Applied voltage and induced voltage withstand
Insulation resistance. Basic condition verification
Functional checks. Tap changer, cooling, protection and monitoring devices
What to verify beyond the readings
Check that the nameplate data matches your order and that the serial number is recorded. Confirm the test instruments are calibrated, and that the values reported are the ones actually measured.
Documentation to receive
Certified routine test report, type test reports where applicable, GA drawings as built, wiring diagrams, manuals and certificates of conformity.
Closing out issues
Any non-conformity should be recorded in writing with an agreed corrective action and retest. Do not accept shipment with open issues noted only verbally.
