Dry Type Distribution Transformer
The result is a transformer with no oil, no bund, no oil fire load and no risk of liquid leakage.
A dry type transformer is cooled by air, not liquid. The windings are either vacuum cast in epoxy resin or vacuum pressure impregnated (VPI), and insulation is a solid system with a defined thermal class.
The result is a transformer with no oil, no bund, no oil fire load and no risk of liquid leakage. That is why dry type is the default inside occupied buildings, basements, tunnels, ships, offshore platforms and anywhere maintenance access is difficult.

Manufacturing, Testing and Standards
Every unit is built under documented process control and subjected to routine tests before dispatch: winding resistance, voltage ratio and vector group, impedance voltage and load loss, no-load loss and current, applied and induced voltage dielectric tests, and functional checks of accessories. Type tests — including lightning impulse, temperature rise and short-circuit withstand — are available for new designs and project requirements. See our testing and quality control pages.
