Prefabricated & Package Substations
A compact substation integrates medium voltage switchgear, a distribution transformer and low voltage distribution boards inside a single weatherproof enclosure. The unit arrives pre-wired and routine tested, so site work is reduced to foundation, cabling and commissioning.
Key Features
- Three Compartment Layout: Separate HV, transformer and LV compartments with mechanical interlocks and internal arc classified construction to protect operators.
- Weatherproof Enclosure: GRP, double layer insulated or reinforced steel enclosure with IP54 to IP65 protection, sand proof and anti condensation design for extreme climates.
- Flexible Transformer Choice: The transformer compartment accommodates either oil immersed (mineral or ester oil) or cast resin dry type transformers to suit the fire and environmental requirements.
- SCADA Ready: Protection relays, metering and remote monitoring interfaces from major brands can be supplied for remote supervision.
- Fast Site Deployment: Pre-wired, pre-tested and delivered as a single unit, cutting site labour and commissioning time significantly.

FAQ
What is the difference between a compact substation and a normal transformer room?
A compact substation is factory assembled, pre-wired and tested as one unit, then delivered to site. A conventional transformer room is built on site from separate switchgear, transformer and distribution boards, which requires far more site labour and coordination.
Can the substation be supplied in an ISO container?
Yes. For data centres, mining and rapid deployment projects we can build the substation inside a standard 20 ft or 40 ft ISO container for easy ocean freight and plug and play installation.
What testing is carried out before dispatch?
Each unit undergoes full factory routine testing in accordance with IEC 62271-202, including dielectric withstand tests, mechanical operation cycles on the HV and LV switchgear and interlocks, plus transformer ratio, DC resistance and secondary wiring checks. Routine test reports are supplied with each delivery.
Can you support a factory acceptance test?
Yes. EPC representatives and third party inspectors such as SGS, Intertek or BV are welcome to attend a factory acceptance test at our works before dispatch.
